📅 Google Calendar Support

Here's a workaround to automatically create events in Google Calendar from the events on the Mac Calendar app using iCloud's Public Calendar (one-way sync).
This method only provides a one-way sync from iCloud to Google Calendar. Any changes you make in Google Calendar will not be reflected in iCloud.
Steps:
In sessions, go to Settings > Calendar > "Show Sessions on Apple calendar" toggle it On.
Get the iCloud Calendar URL:
- Go to the Calendar app on Mac.
- Select the calendar you want to sync. In this case the Session calendar.
- Click the Share icon and make the calendar public.
- Copy the provided URL.
Add the URL to Google Calendar:
- Open Google Calendar.
- In the "Other calendars" section, click the "+" icon and select "From URL".
- Paste the iCloud Calendar URL and click "Add calendar".
Limitations:
- One-way sync only (iCloud to Google Calendar).
- Events in Google Calendar will be read-only.
- You cannot control how frequently Google Calendar checks for updates.
- Your iCloud calendar becomes technically 'public' (though only accessible via the specific URL).

I believe this is supported now

I wrote this article with session automation for the time being.

I'm realling needing this 🙏

How is this still not possible? Are there any setbacks related to this? I want my sessions to sync with my Google calendar.
Philip Young
Luka Krcmar: Yes, unfortunately it is so complex.
With Apple Calendar, everything is handled by your device (Mac / iOS). That's why it's way simpler.
Google Calendar means Session server has to be online all the time, if it failed to speak with "Google Calendar", it has to be handled accordingly, retried incrementally, and many other things.
If it's easy, I would've implemented and prioritized it :(

some companies also use MDM and disable iCloud entirely. So the calendar feature is unusable on those machines
Philip Young
Kevin Woo: Interesting. In that case you can't even download Session from App Store, right?

Philip Young, depends on how restrictive the company policy is. In my case, the MacBook had iCloud disabled only, but App Store was still available. I was unable to use any iCloud services.

My Google account is added to my mac, so my Google calendar is available within the Apple one - so I just choose my Google calendar. Not sure if this would solve your problem?
Olivier Van Biervliet
Yes, let us choose any calendar to sync with. Beware of removing all events instead of just sessions when removing the calendar.
