Scheduled tasks: drag and drop To Do tasks to hours on the calendar
Eric Bellows
After we have defined (or imported) our tasks and assigned a duration to them, allow us to drag and drop tasks over the hours of the day. Result: start and end times built to our real days, with non-work time blocks as empty spaces in between.
There’s a school of thought among productivity gurus that To Do lists are inferior to schedule or agenda building because To Do lists do not relate well to real time. To fix this issue, tasks in a To Do list should have durations attached. Session does this already.
These "time boxes" are then assigned to hours of the day. This allows us to see our To Do list in context of our real day, with meal breaks, exercise blocks or YouTube marathons showing as blank spaces on the calendar. There's a workaround on Session: we can add a calendar event to create these spaces, but it's tedious to record non-work blocks that way. Every day.
Drag-and-drop tasks would be an elegant solution. If not drag-and-drop, assigned start time for tasks that reflect on the calendar would also work.
I know Philip wants to keep To Do simple and has refused other feature bloat requests. Yet, if this feature is not too complicated to implement, it has huge productivity benefits that all Session users can realize.
